I own Freerange Records. If you like this music then please respect it by buying it and not downloading illegally.

We are a small independent label and the artists who record for the label will only be able to continue to do so if they get paid for the music they make.

Digital downloads are not expensive. Please support independent electronic music by paying for it.

    Thanks

irst up, much respect on one of the most brilliant record labels….However,

i would buy it if other dj’s didn’t get this for free. The playing field need’s to be leveled…record labels shouldn’t give out freebies to the dj’s they like and make the rest of us have to pay. Everyone should have to pay - also why should I have to pay when we’ve heard these tracks being played out for months by the time they come out onto labels (i.e., they’ve been played out by label head djs forever, but where supposed to be excited, and Pay money when the record comes out six weeks (or months - like the Gruber & Nurnberg “C’mon Dance”

Do record labels have to make money? Yes, of course, and they do when
I fork over $25 to see an artist I love. I support them, but I simply cannot afford to pay $3 per track. Because I’m broke does that mean I shouldn’t be able to enjoy music.

Also, if tracks were more available on VINYL in my area (California)
I would buy those, but don’t care much for the mp3 medium and am stuck with it. Vinyl I would be willing to pay for.

Thanks for the nice words on the label.

In response to your comments about some DJs getting upfront promos….
Every industry, not just music, will provide upfront product to key tastemakers. I’d love it if I could get loads of free clothes from cool designers but unfortunately I have to buy the clothes I want. I don’t think ‘oh well it’s annoying that I don’t get them for free’ therefore I’ll go and steal them anyway.

Our promo mailout is limited to 75 DJs worldwide and goes out 5 weeks before release date NOT months. All our tracks are available on itunes for $0.99 so no need to fork out $3 per track.

You can always get vinyl from http://www.amoeba.com/ or direct from the label at http://shop.freerangerecords.co.uk :) What’s more we’re having a sale right now!

Labels of our size sell between 1000-2000 copies of a hot tune. That is just about sustainable. Every time someone downloads illegally its another nail in the coffin of quality independent labels….

    100% Freerange!!
